We’re a Brisbane-based, family owned company dedicated to developing, manufacturing, and distributing exceptional animal grooming and health products for pets and pet lovers around the world.
The majority of our products are manufactured in Australia, using the strictest standards of quality and safety. Our pet care products are made in the medical-grade, world-class facility we share with our parent company, Mavlab.
We’re so proud that our products can be found in 24 countries and regions around the world, so that all pet parents can give their pets the best care possible.
Animal welfare is baked into our DNA.
Our story starts in 1970, with Brisbane-based vet Dr John Lamberth. Dr Lamberth’s life mission was to improve animal welfare.
He worked with the Brisbane City Council to rezone veterinary practices, getting them out of industrial zones and into the suburbs where they could be easily accessed by pet owners.
Dr Lamberth also organised a free desexing clinic with the RSPCA for stray dogs, inspiring his fellow vets to donate their time.
In his own practice, he struggled to find appropriately dosed medicine for his animal patients. Everything was either dosed for humans or had to be specially made by a pharmaceutical compounder.
Even worse, there were many diseases which affected animals but weren’t well known enough for pharmaceuticals to be available.
To address these problems, Dr John Lamberth started Mavlab, making heartworm tablets and flea powders.
In 1981, Dr Lamberth retired from his veterinary practice, with plans for Mavlab to be his retirement plan. It wasn’t much of a retirement, as growth was exponential. The company moved four times, into ever larger buildings.
Today, Mavlab and Fido’s are still family owned, with Dr Lamberth’s daughter, Terese Peters, taking over from her father in 2000.

Over the last 28 years, Terese has been an integral part of Mavlab as she has led the company to achieve a diversified manufacturing and accredited facility to accommodate an increased range of products. Her vision is to expand awareness and accessibility of our brands worldwide.
Kivalur Swaminathan
Dr. Kivalur Swaminathan has had more than 20 years experience in Research and Development. He has guided Mavlab’s R & D over the past 12 years and during that time many of our innovative and successful products have been developed under his guidance.
Dr. Paul Ross
Dr. Paul Ross is a registered veterinary surgeon with over 14 years’ experience in clinical practice. Over the last 16 years at Mavlab, Paul has worked closely with his colleagues in R&D and Sales teams to translate new product ideas into reality.

We’re committed to quality Australian manufacturing, and all of our products are made here in Australia. In fact, we’re licensed under the APVMA GMP for Good Manufacturing Process.
